Why You Should Consider Trampoline Anchors to Keep Your Family Safe

Trampoline anchors provide an extra layer of safety for your family while they enjoy their time on the trampoline. Keeping the trampoline anchored to the ground can help prevent it from tipping over or being blown away in strong winds. Additionally, if someone falls off the trampoline, the anchors will help keep it from moving so that they can get back on safely.

We all know that a fun play experience is only good as long as everyone is safe, and that’s why trampoline anchors are such an important safety feature. With anchors in place, you can breathe a little easier knowing that your family is safe while they enjoy some healthy outdoor fun. Read on to learn more about ensuring trampoline safety using anchors and other methods.

How Do I Keep My Trampoline from Blowing Away?

One of the safety concerns of a trampoline is that it can be easily blown away by strong winds, especially if it’s not properly secured. This can cause serious injury to anyone who is using or nearby the trampoline at the time. It’s essential to take the necessary precautions to prevent this from happening. Thankfully, there are a few different ways that you can keep your trampoline from blowing away.

Using Trampoline Anchors

Trampoline anchors are the most effective ways to prevent the trampoline from being blown away.

Trampoline anchors are devices designed to keep your trampoline securely in place. Various types of anchors are available, so you’ll need to choose the one that best suits your needs. The most important thing to consider is the wind rating of the anchor. This will determine how well it will hold up in high winds.

Use Sandbags

Alternatively, you can use sandbags. The sandbags are a fast solution in instances where you can’t get anchors. It helps add weight to the lightweight trampolines preventing wind from blowing them away. You can use the sandbags if the trampoline is on your patio or deck where trampoline anchors cant work.

Opt for a Tie-Down Kit

A tie-down kit can also prevent your trampoline from blowing away. The kit mainly consists of straps and metal stakes that hold the trampoline to the ground. You can remove the trampoline and use it only when the winds are high.

What Is the Best Way to Anchor a Trampoline?

Installing auger-style trampoline anchors is the best way to anchor a trampoline. It helps stop the winds from interfering with your trampoline, making it last longer.  You can also use the u-shaped trampoline stakes over the legs.

Below is the step-to-step guide on how to anchor a trampoline.

Materials Needed

  • A hammer
  • A trampoline anchor kit
  • A tape measure
  • Four ratchet straps

Fixing Trampoline Anchors

To enable the trampoline to hold better regardless of strong winds blowing, do the following:

1. Measure the Working Area

You should first measure your working area where you’ll fix the auger anchors. Measure 1-1.5 feet from the inside of your leg. Ensure you measure all the legs and mark them for having them equal.

2. Fix the Trampoline Anchors to the Ground

You should put the pointed tip of the anchor against the ground while holding the upper part firmly. Hammer or twist the anchor clockwise until you have only the circular hook above the ground. Do this to all the trampoline legs. If you find fixing the augers in the soil challenging, pour some water to soften it.

3. Hook and Loop the Straps

You should then loop the straps around the trampoline frame. Let the straps go over the circular bar over each of the auger sides. Also, ensure both ends of the strap hang at the same length.

4. Hook the Strap Through the Anchor

After that, you should pass the strap into the hook on top of the anchor. It should also be in line with the buckle hanging on the other end.

5. Tighten the Buckle

You should also tighten the buckle to enable the straps to hold better. But don’t overtighten the straps. Repeat the process on each side of the trampoline to allow it to anchor well.

Installing Wind Stakes

Another best way to anchor a trampoline is using trampoline stakes. The four U-shaped wind stakes are easy to fix. They are also highly durable since they’re made of steel.

  • Place the stakes at every leg of the trampoline. Let them be at the center of the trampoline and at equal distance to provide better stability.
  • Then tap each trampoline stake into the ground with a hammer and make sure they hold well. You can jiggle them to determine whether they fit well into the ground. If there is any loose stake, pull it out and drive it afresh into the ground.

Note that the trampoline stakes don’t hold well. We still recommend using trampoline anchors whenever possible.

How Do You Secure a Trampoline Without Stakes?

If you don’t have stakes, it doesn’t mean you can’t secure the trampoline. You can use different methods to hold it in place and prevent wind from blowing away. Here are ways to secure your trampoline without stakes:

Tie Weights to Every Leg of the Trampoline

You can prevent your trampoline from blowing away by tying weights on each of its legs with a string. This method works best if you have no trampoline anchors, and it’s easy as it requires less work. But you have to use strong strings that can withstand the strong winds.

Building a Fence

Additionally, you can build a fence around the trampoline to hold it in place. The fence will protect the trampoline when there are strong winds. But ensure you make a tall and strong wall with a strong base. Like the trampoline anchors, the fence helps the trampoline be stable and secure.

Opt For a Safety Net

The main reason to secure the trampoline is to improve its safety. This safety net will do better if you install it around the trampoline. Make sure the safety net is stronger than the trampoline.

Bungee Cords

If you don’t have trampoline stakes, bungee cords can come in handy. Fix the bungee cords around the trampoline legs to secure it. Use strong bungee cords so they last longer.

Final Thoughts: Trampoline Anchors

There are many ways to keep your trampoline safe and prevent it from being blown away. We recommend using anchors as they guarantee maximum safety. But in situations where you can’t find anchors, you can tie weights to the trampoline, build a fence, or use bungee cords as alternatives. Whether you choose trampoline anchors or other methods, as long as you ensure safety as a priority, then it keeps the fun going!
